At last we made it to UAE’s must-visit summer destination, the Yas Waterworld!
The water and amusement park officially opened in January this year. As the only one of its kind in the capital Abu Dhabi, the success is expected to rival Dubai’s Aquaventure (in Atlantis The Palm) and Wild Wadi (by Jumeirah Properties).
My boys at the entrance. Ticket costs 225AED ($61) per adult and 185AED ($50) for children below 1.1 meters.
Like the Wild Wadi, Abu Dhabi’s entertainment park has an Emirati theme throughout. The story “Legend of the Lost Pearl” unfold as soon as you enter. It is about a little girl called Dana who goes on an adventure to find the lost mother pearl and uncover the legend in efforts to help save her village from hardships.
The park sits on 15 hectares with 43 rides, slides, and attractions. It can accommodate 6,000 people at a time. Yas Waterworld boasts some records such as:
1) World’s first suspended water roller coaster equipped with water bombs and laser guns.
2) World’s first and largest hydromagnetic-powered 6-person waterslide.
3) Bubble Barrel, the largest sheet wave surfing in the world,
4) and Liwa Loop is the UAE’s first and only looping waterslide.
The usual dumping bucket is there for young guests, the wave pool, as well as the lazy river and the more heart-pumping Yadi Yas.
Another unique feature of the park is you get the chance to witness them re-enact the pearl diving tradition of UAE. An aquarium was especially made for the everyday storytelling.
Yas Waterworld is the second theme park in Yas Island and also managed by the people who own and operate Ferrari World. It iss quiet expensive so perhaps to get the most of your money, try to book hotels in Yas Plaza offering complimentary tickets. Ours was courtesy of Crowne Plaza Yas Island.
