We have 24 hours to spend in Washington D.C. and with a child in tow, it is inevitable we sleep in at a hotel for the night. We chose Hyatt Regency for the amenities available, price, and proximity to tourist spots.
Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill is located three blocks from Union Station Washington D.C., the last stop of Amtrak train bringing us from New York. From the hotel entrance, you can already see the gleaming U.S. Capitol. A walk towards the National Mall will merely take about 10 minutes.
Dusty, tired, and hungry, having explored as far as Tidal Basin, we promptly arrived for 2 o’clock check-in. The hotel lobby seems busy yet fortunately, there were no queue at the check-in counter. The lady smiled and mentioned they have been expecting us. She quickly facilitated the check-in, giving us room on the 8th floor. Walking towards the lift, I see a large busy gift shop to our right.
Hyatt Guest Room
Within 5 minutes of arriving the hotel, we were already in the guest room. Spacious and bed is oh so comfortable! From our room, we can view the glass encased swimming pool.
Indoor Swimming Pool
Mayhap the foremost reason why we picked this hotel. Little C needs his dose of swim hence we visited the heated indoor pool as soon as we finished unpacking. Children dominated the lap pool while some parents went for their fitness regime which is just beside the swimming pool.
In-Room Dining Service
I can’t remember the food but the service yes. The staff delivering extra hotel robes and slippers and those who came to bring our food all addressed us Mr. & Mrs. Pinkihan. Definitely 5-star for the service.
What I only do not like is the $10 Wifi per day. If you can tolerate that and looking to stay with your family in Washington D.C. Hyatt Regency is a good option. You can walk anywhere and kids will love the indoor lap pool. Our room rate is at $175 without breakfast but you have plenty of option where to dine whether inside the hotel or walk outside. There is Walmart produce also a 5 minute walking distance where we hoarded fruits for breakfast.
