Lavish as it may be, the city of Dubai also firmly advocates green and sustainable living. In fact, the Dubai Metro is the first environmentally-friendly metro system in the world. By reducing carbon emissions, there is 25% less energy consumption. This reduction is estimated at 42 million kilograms, according to Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy during the Dubai Global Energy Forum 2011.
Hence, during the National Day Celebration and in keeping up with its reputation as the greenest city in the region, Dubai’s electric cars joined the parade including their current research, a full solar powered car.
